JUNIOR TRAINEE SEAMSTRESS – COUTURE FASHION

We’re looking for a junior trainee seamstress with creative flair to join our small, creative team in a luxury couture fashion business.
This is a great opportunity for a young person who is genuinely interested in fashion, design and textiles and would love to gain hands-on experience working behind the scenes of a couture fashion label while still at school or tertiary studies.
The ideal person:
- Has a genuine interest in fashion, design and textiles
- Is currently studying Textiles or Design & Technology at school or a Fashion related tertiary qualification (ideal, but not essential)
- Has some basic experience with sewing and/or hand sewing
- Is creative, practical and enjoys working with their hands
- Has a good eye for detail and takes pride in their work
- Is reliable, enthusiastic and keen to learn
- Is interested in developing their sewing skills and gaining experience in a professional fashion environment
You’ll learn about:
- Couture garment cutting and construction
- Hand sewing and finishing techniques
- Working with delicate and luxury fabrics
- Garment preparation
- Pattern and garment construction processes
- The day to day workings of couture making
Previous professional experience is not required — we’re primarily looking for someone with the right attitude, an interest in learning and a genuine passion for fashion and textiles.
The role would suit a school student or junior entrant looking to build practical skills and experience in the fashion industry.
